Suppliers

Suppliers are critical to the success of our business and the 45 million members we serve. Elevance Health’s Global Supply Chain function facilitates partnerships with hundreds of suppliers, managing over $7 billion of indirect spending in products and services. To ensure the appropriate amount of due diligence, we categorize suppliers and assign a risk rating based on spend, value, operational risk or business relevance, and strategic risk. Elevance Health partners with suppliers based on the quality and cost of their products and services, and on the suppliers’ alignment with our mission and core values.

In addition to considering each supplier’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards as an important component of their overall profile, we assess our critical suppliers’ alignment with Elevance Health’s mission and core values. Our robust Supplier Code of Conduct — which addresses topics such as human and labor rights, anticorruption policies, workplace safety standards and responsible paper guidelines — is standard in supplier contracts; suppliers are required to acknowledge and attest to it on a regular basis. The code sets expectations, in alignment with Elevance Health’s values, for how our suppliers do business.

Supplier Diversity

Supplier diversity, an integral part of our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) efforts, contributes to upholding Elevance Health’s core values and is one important way we improve the economic health of our communities. Our comprehensive Supplier Diversity program creates economic opportunities for underrepresented communities by procuring products and services from small businesses and businesses that are majority owned by people of color, women, veterans, people with disabilities, people who identify as LGBTQ+, disability-owned business enterprises, as well as HUBZone.

Our supplier diversity team works with business partners from across Elevance Health to ensure that diverse suppliers are included in sourcing opportunities. In addition, community partnerships, such as the Mid-States Minority Supplier Development Council, help us to identify, nurture, and expand our supplier base.

In 2022, Elevance Health’s tier 1 (direct) and 2 (indirect) spend with diverse and small businesses totaled approximately $1.2 billion. Our award-winning program received several recognitions in 2022, including Best of the Best Corporations for Inclusion from the National Business Inclusion Consortium (NBIC).

Supply Chain Sustainability and Responsibility

Elevance Health upholds environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria across our value chain, which includes our supply chain. In addition to expecting that suppliers attest to the Supplier Code of Conduct, which covers many ESG topics, Elevance Health considers each supplier’s ESG standards as an important component of their overall vendor profile. As part of our enterprise environmental goals, we ask top spend suppliers to set their own scope 1 and 2 science-based greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.

Elevance Health uses the CDP (formerly Climate Disclosure Project) Supply Chain to collect environmental metrics from suppliers for a consistent assessment of their climate ambitions. Training on CDP, as well as related ESG assessments, is provided to internal procurement associates and assessed suppliers.

Our supply chain ESG standards help us align our supply chain with Elevance Health’s values. Review our Supplier Sustainability Policy to learn more.

Supplier Registration

Suppliers are required to register to be considered for procurement opportunities with Elevance Health.  The registration process is an opportunity for suppliers to share information on capabilities, products and alignment with Elevance Health’s mission and core values.

Registration Process

  1. Create a free account on the Ariba Commerce Cloud or login using an existing account. New suppliers will be requested to provide company name, address, and other contact information.
NOTE: To complete the supplier registration process you will be redirected to the Ariba Network site.
  2. Once information is submitted, suppliers will receive an activation email. After account activation, there will be additional questions which Elevance Health requires of all its suppliers.
  3. After submitting updated information, the supplier’s profile will be included in Elevance Health’s database for potential procurement opportunities.  If not immediately contacted for opportunities, information will remain active for future opportunities.
NOTE:  Completion of the supplier registration process does not imply a contract or intent to purchase by Elevance Health, Inc.
  4. The Elevance Health Supplier Registration Guide provides step-by-step registration instructions. Questions should be directed to the Elevance Health Supplier Enablement team at SupplierEnablement@ElevanceHealth.com.
