Essential Accessibility

Health. Care. Value. For all.

WellPoint and Disability Community Involvement Initiative

Everything we do at WellPoint is focused on our mission of improving the lives of the people we serve and the health of our communities. This spirit drives our commitment to create the best health care value for our customers, while advocating for responsible health care reform in America. It sets the foundation for our success and it strongly influences our approach to diversity as a competitive advantage.  We embrace diversity in its broadest sense – race, gender, age, sexual orientation and gender identify, veteran status, as well as disability – and understand that this broad definition is inclusive of multigenerations and multicultural communities. We believe in the power of this broad view of diversity and the role it plays in creating a culture of distinction and the impact it has on improving our member and provider service satisfaction, and our associate and consumer engagement.

We have been recognized with numerous awards for our commitment to include people with disabilities as part of our workforce and our business growth strategies.  In 2010, WellPoint became a founding partner of the US Business Leadership Network (USBLN) Supplier Diversity Program. Building on our commitment to support people with disabilities, WellPoint is now featuring eSSENTIAL Accessibility™ as part of a Disability Community Involvement Initiative launched in association with leading advocacy groups for the disabled.
